Automations let other tools act on your loyalty program. When something happens in Shopify, in a Klaviyo flow, or in your own system, you can give points, assign a coupon, send a wallet notification, and more, without opening JeriCommerce.
Each action has its own guide, with a tab for every channel. Pick the channel once and the other guides open on it too.

Choose a channel ¶
Shopify Flow is the simplest option if your trigger happens in Shopify, like an order, a new customer, or a tag. The JeriCommerce actions are available in Flow as soon as the JeriCommerce app is installed. Actions run while the workflow runs, so if one fails, you see the reason in the workflow's run history. Actions that read data, like Get customer, return it to the next steps of the workflow.
Klaviyo fits best when the trigger is marketing activity, like joining a list, opening an email, or entering a segment. You add a Webhook action to the flow and paste the values from the builder in each guide. Klaviyo webhooks can only send data, so reading actions use the profile properties that JeriCommerce syncs to Klaviyo instead. Klaviyo doesn't wait for the result: if an action is skipped, for example because the customer doesn't have enough points, Klaviyo isn't told.
The API is for your development team, to connect your own website, app, or backend. It's the most flexible option and works for every program. See the API overview for authentication, limits, and errors.
Before you start ¶
- Shopify Flow: install the JeriCommerce app in your Shopify store.
- Klaviyo and the API: you need your program slug, from Settings > Technical > Program Information, and an API key, from Settings > Technical > API Keys. The builder in each guide fills in the slug for you when you open the docs from JeriCommerce.
To react to what happens in JeriCommerce, like a customer installing their card or redeeming a reward, use the other direction: Shopify Flow triggers, Klaviyo events, or the events webhook.
